Boost Bites: Tasty Morsels of Entertainment

Kanye Blasts Britney

In true Kanye fashion, he is speaking out against MTV and their decision to have Britney Spears open the network’s Video Music Awards in Vegas. According to the “Stronger” singer, “she was not ready” and “MTV exploited Britney in helping to end her career.” Although the rapper/producer was upset that he was shut out of all of the categories in which he was nominated, he says he is not a sore loser. “For me, [MTV] made it seem like performing on the main stage was a bad thing, and the suites were just so great. It was my dream when I made “Stronger” to open up the VMAs with a real power performance. And I just feel like I got betrayed by them.” Isn’t it hard to feel sorry for someone who has more success than they could ever dream of and more money than they will ever spend?

50 Down with Dipset?

During his show at New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom last Thursday, as a part of his 5 Borough Tour, the usually belligerent 50 Cent invited Jim Jones and Juelz Santana on stage to perform with him (despite the fact that 50’s man Tony Yayo has publicly dissed the Dipset front man several times in the past). Well, it seems all is forgiven and there are even rumors that Jones may sign with G-Unit. Does it seem that 50 has to always “buy” a crew or align himself with who’s hot at the moment? He needs to take lessons from the one that does it best—and with sophistication—Diddy.

Britney Blast #2: Timbaland

Famed producer Timbaland says that he wanted to work with embattled singer Britney Spears and “take her overseas and work [it] out,” according to MTV News. He even asked her former boy friend Justin Timberlake if he would work on the project and he agreed. However, Timbaland says Britney has “a big head” and dissed the collaboration and, furthermore, she needs to call him and apologize to make it happen. Why is everyone calling for his woman to apologize? There was a rumor that she was planning to apologize for her disastrous performance at the VMA’s on last week’s Emmy telecast and now she is supposed to apologize to Timbaland? When did Madonna ever apologize for all the “mistakes” and supposed missteps of her two decade-long career? Let’s see…uh….never! And besides, who is Timbaland? He is a genius of a producer who has reinvented himself and others, yes. But, he is not the only producer who cranks out hits. Besides, if these artists continue to go to the same producers for hits, the radio will sound like one long song. Oops! Too late.

T.I. Big Man at BET

Despite all of the hoopla over Kanye and 50, T.I. quietly took the most nominations for this year’s 2nd Annual BET Hip-Hop Awards. T.I. snagged nine nods to Kanye’s seven. Adding to his seemingly decreasing popularity, 50 only managed to receive three nominations. Other nominees include Lil Wayne (7), Common (5), Jay-Z (4) and Ludacris (3). The show will tape October 13th in Atlanta and air on BET October 17th at 9om. Comedian Katt Williams will return as host. Hopefully, since he is supposedly boycotting MTV now, Kanye will perform “Stronger” and “Good Life” at the BET Hip-Hop Awards…

Jennifer Hudson Gets a Little “Sex”

Oscar-winner Jennifer Hudson has just signed on to star in the big-screen version of the HBO hit series “Sex and The City”. Hudson will play Carrie Bradshaw’s (Sarah Jessica Parker) assistant. While it may not be a starring role for Hudson, it’s a good look and an even better decision for her. It takes the pressure off of her to have a hit follow-up her star-turn in “Dreamgirls”. If it’s a hit, she wins. If its not (which is highly-unlikely) she does not lose. Parker and the other girls do. It’s a win-win.
