AMA Supercross Begins!

The AMA Supercross season kicked off this weekend in Anaheim in some muddy conditions that made for some crazy racing! As expected, reigning 2007 AMA Supercross Champion and Boost team rider James Stewart was hands down the fastest man on the track. Unfortunately, the mud bog they were calling the "start" got the best of Stewart in the Supercross main event. Going into the first turn Stewart lost traction when someone bumped into the back of him and he went down. When he got back on the bike he was in last place with 20 laps to make up ground on the race leaders.

On a dry track it would be a monumental feat to make it on the podium after a bad start like that--on a muddy quagmire like last night, well, it's almost unheard of! Stewart proceeded to pick off riders left and right, two and three at a time. By lap 10 Stewart had made his way to second place, and that's where he would finish! Comeback from behind performances like this are exactly why Stewart is the champ, and will be again!

In the Lites class, Boost Mobile/Yamaha of Troy rider Jason Lawrence also scored a solid second place finish. Next week is the Phoenix Supercross. It's a covered dome so we're guaranteed a dry race. Look for Stewart and Lawrence at the top of the podium next week!

We have a winner! Jason Lawrence of YOT and the infamous, James Stewart are gonna be ones to see in this year's AMA tour!
