In Memory of Jeremy Lusk...
"We know he is performing sick tricks for all those in heaven to crowds
greater than we have ever seen," says one of the scores of mourning
fans.
The 24-year-old Freestyle Motocross (FMX) star passed away as a result
of severe head injuries sustained in a crash during the X Knights FMX
event in San Jose, Costa Rica. We report this horrible news with deeply
saddened hearts for a Boost family member that Boost has watched grow
over the past few years.
The heroic rider under-rotated a complicated back flip trick (Hart
Attack) and slammed head-first into the dirt – shearing his helmet
after a violent tumble.
He remained in a medically-induced coma from Sunday until about
Midnight (Pacific) on Tuesday night when he passed away – surrounded by
his mother and father, Chuck and Gina Lusk; his wife Lauren; his mother
and father-in-law, along with fellow Metal Mulisha (super popular
Motocross team/company) riders Brian Deegan, Ryan Hagy, Cameron Steele
and Erik Apple.
A fact that may come to the surprise of many Boost Headquarters
staffers, Jeremy Lusk was chilling at Boost’s Unlimited Launch party
just a couple of weeks ago at Irvine HQ. He and other riders from
Boost’s FMX tour were on site to perform for the Boost staff in
celebration of Unlimited’s launch. Untimely rain cancelled the
performance, but the riders joined employees for lunch and many had the
pleasure of chatting with him.
Originally from San Diego and a solid rider, Lusk blossomed in the
sport in 2008. Winning a prestigious gold medal at the last X-Games FMX
competition, a silver at a 2008 X-Games Best Trick competition and a
handful of other recognitions at various events during the year, he
became one of the sport’s hottest names. Winning the coveted Transworld
Motocross Magazine FMX Rider of the year topped it off for the
hard-working and quietly confident athlete.
But he wouldn’t have reached the pinnacle of his abruptly-ended career
if he didn’t hone his skills riding in Boost Mobile’s FMX tour around
the country for the past few years. Boost Mobile has literally seem him
grow in FMX, and we are proud to have had a hand in raising a true
competitor and one of the good guys in the sport of Freestyle
Motocross. He will definitely be missed by all action sports fans
across the globe, as well as those in the Boost Family who had the
pleasure of meeting him.
Metal Mulisha added the ability for friends and fans to upload their personal photos along with a caption in our photo gallery to share their memories of Jeremy.
Hopefully you can spread the word and even upload some photos of your own.
It feels good to look through them and read all the great comments.
