Danny Kass
Danny Kass is a New Jersey native, young entrepreneur and two-time Olympic Silver Medalist in snowboarding. Notorious for both evading and toying with the media; Danny’s on his own program. Before he was even old enough to legally buy beer, he started Grenade Gloves with his brother Matt, and as you know, it is a success. Grenade gained worldwide notoriety by various campaigns of Guerilla and Viral marketing. One of the larger rogue campaigns took place at the 2002 Olympics where they paraded with inflatable male adult pleasure dolls among the conservative spectators ultimately ending in a brush with local and governmental authorities. “He’s a throwback to when snowboarding dangerous, ‘If you don’t like me, you can shove it,’” says snowboard legend Todd Richards. “Danny’s really smart and he’s got a long career ahead of him. I think he’s great.”
Danny proved his greatness in 2005 by becoming the only man in history to win The US Open of Snowboarding Halfpipe 4 times. This tremendous feat occurred one year before he went on to receive his second Silver Medal at the 2006 Olympic Games in Torino, Italy. Not to be stereotyped as a contest rider Danny has accomplished much more than the normal circuit pro. Contests for Danny are just something he performs well at not his life long ambition. Over the years a renegade image has followed Danny, but he certainly doesn’t mind. “It’s just weird,” he says. “You’re hanging out with your friends and you’re all kids, so then you’re labeled a punk by the media. We’re all kind of punks, but it’s been printed more about me than anybody else. I’m just trying to have more fun.” Fun is just the word to describe the whole entity that is Danny Kass and his world, one that is hard to grasp by the standard conformist.
