Mark Appleyard

Plain and simple, Mark Appleyard possesses one of the smoothest and most beloved styles in modern skateboarding—its common knowledge. On Flip, alongside heavy hitters like Geoff Rowley, Arto Saari, Tom Penny and Rodrigo TX, Mark has elevated street skateboarding to ridiculous levels—stepping some of the most technical tricks up to bigger rails, bigger hubbas and bigger sets of stairs. Mark seriously upped the ante of what can be done on a skateboard by also bringing numerous nollie flip variations to handrails—stuff no one was messing with until he left them no choice. He makes the most teched out tricks look simple. He can crank out quality video parts and interviews like no one’s business and any coverage he gets is a welcome treat to the skateboarders of the world. Even after half a decade of constant coverage, it seems no one can get enough of Canadian-bred Appleyard—and in the faced-paced, ever-changing world of skateboarding, that’s saying a lot.
Like most of his Flip teammates, Mark Appleyard was voted Thrasher magazine’s Skater of the Year for 2003 and also won TransWorld magazine’s “Reader’s Choice” award in 2004. Coming off a few slammin’ back to back video parts in Flip’s Sorry and Really Sorry a few years ago, not to mention more magazine coverage in a few years than most pros accumulate in a lifetime, Mark Appleyard has been laying low as of late and traveling the world on a filming mission. Not to mention ripping a bunch of different Feast tours with his mates. The new Flip video, Extremely Sorry is coming soon and you can bet your sweet little derrière that his part will be one of the, if not, the standout part. You know you’re counting the days…
